Extra credit for bio..for pierce to read..you can read too and say how it sucks and why.
Gnaumie was a hardcore explorer. Willing to risk her life for facts, history, and science. Lately, her focus had been drawn to the Mayas. Ruins found throughout Central America; she was studying in Belize.
She had been searching for anything interesting, she looked to her left and crawled into a cave, covered by bush and tree. She screamed out in joy at the sight of black drawn figures on the wall. There was a large handprint indented in the wall, she placed her hand in it. Ignoring the drawings which stated that it was some kind of trap…holding all the diseases of the world.
She yelled when she felt six, quick painful stabs. She pulled her hand back and examined it. Each finger was bleeding under the nail where she had been stabbed. Also another wound on her wrist right above her vein. She ignored the sting and continued to follow the cave…
She came to a clearing; the area was a vast expanse of greenery. It was a haven…untouched by man and their greedy hands.
She came to another clearing where the sun shone through and mushrooms were scattered throughout the area. They were not very unusual, a bit on the large side, with large umbrella like caps. The entire mushroom was white, splattered with ugly splotches of purple. The stalk was much too thin. If she was to guess…she would say they were from Kingdom Imperfecti, but she really knew nothing about them. She looked underneath the cap. There were only about a dozen gills. Also, an odd beetle seemed fused to the mushroom. She plucked it and it exploded with oozy pus and thick blood. She sighed, must have been a form of mutualism.
She dropped the mushroom and doubled over in pain. She looked down at her hands which seemed to be decaying more by each passing second. Her head was pulsing and she could feel blood pouring from her nose, eyes, and mouth. She coughed and black slime dribbled from her lips. Her body twitched and convulsed as she threw up black, sticky vomit. It fell onto the mushrooms and several of them dissolved away. The ones that did not dissolve absorbed the diseases. They were now the most deadly of weapons. Gnaumie fell back and jerked back and forth chronically…She coughed and shook and prayed that this would soon end…and that her friends would not come looking for her.
Miya, Stephanie, and Pierce had searched and searched. She was nowhere to be found. But none of them even considered giving up. They noticed a cave and knew that was where she would have gone. They walked in and their eyes fell to the handprint which was stained with blood.
They nervously ran through the cave and gasped when they came to the clearing.
They quickly found a path and followed it. Too nervous to say anything. Miya and Stephanie screamed at the sight of a corpse, rotting and decayed. It smelled wretched. Pierce walked near it and thousands of flies burst up and surrounded them like a black cloud.
He looked down at the body. Black ooze stained the earth and darkened their shoes. A strange smell filled their nostrils and Miya noticed the black gas coming from the mushrooms. Deadly spores…it was too late…they had breathed it in and their bodies were starting to die away. Blood flowed and black slime oozed around them all. They died amidst the paradise of mushrooms, hoping this disease would die with them…
A bird flew down beside one of the bodies and started to peck away. Flinging intestines in the air only to swallow it. It quickly flew away, black slime hanging from its beak.
Several wolves came to finish off the feast that lay before them. It was quickly devoured and they ran out into the world…thrashing wildly, biting anyone who got in their way. So the blood continued to spill and the ooze continued to stain… |
